GROWL!!!

If I hear one more person complain about the Foreigners coming in here, and "stealing our jobs" that we wouldn't have taken 2 years ago if we were paid double the wages, I will smack them.

We were the foreigners coming in and taking the jobs 20 years ago and now people have the nerve to complain about these people who are so like us, most of whom have just come outof an opressive system of government who tried to stamp out their culture and language and replace it with their own. Sound familiar to anyone?

I am not even going to begin on Lisbon. I am so genuinely sickened over this.

I need a hug....

Tell me more.
We are seeing that over here, too.
And one thing we don't have is much for an international perspective.

There is a treaty coming up for referendum, on Europe. Its the second time its gone through after being rejected the first and has undergone changes to suit the Irish people better.

The main question is "Do we want to be closer to Europe?" and one of the arguements against Europe is that the Foreigners are coming in and "stealing our jobs"

I fully believe it's another way for bigger countries to take our natural resources or expertise in certain fields without having to pay the sort of currency which is affiliated with resourses of that scale/quality. And with the power of democracy within the Lisbon treaty is giving us, that will be sweet f/a power to veto.

I'll stop now.

So do you not believe Europe is good for Ireland? Or are you just against this treaty in particular?

I believe that we can trade and work with Europe efficiently.

We don't need to give them our resources in order to achieve that though, or leave workers benefits or wages out in the cold.

What really gets on my nerves is that they haven't addressed these issues.

*hug* I guess they should have said, America land of the free and brave, we welcome anywho and everyone without prejudice, unless you're illegal and on the run from somewhere and want to steal our jobs, we don't care if you're illegal because you are trying to start a new life and be on the better side of life, we really don't...

>>' anywho..
